Dr. Peter Ireland鈥檚 areas of research interest are macroeconomics and monetary economics, both nationally and worldwide, with special emphasis on Federal Reserve policy and its effects on financial markets and the economy. Widely published in financial and economic journals, Dr. Ireland is a Research Associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research, a member of the Shadow Open Market Committee (a group of private-sector economists who monitor the actions of the Federal Reserve),聽and a frequent contributor to the Manhattan Institute鈥檚聽Economics21聽website. Widely published, Dr. Ireland鈥檚 recent research includes: "Interest Rates and Money in the Measurement of Monetary Policy (Journal of Business and Economic Statistics), 鈥淭he Macroeconomic Effects of Interest on Reserves鈥 (Macroeconomic Dynamics); 鈥淪tochastic Growth in the United States and Euro Area鈥 (Journal of the European Economic Association,聽2013); 鈥淎 New Keynesian Perspective on the Great Recession,鈥 (Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, 2011); and 鈥淥n the Welfare Cost of Inflation and the Recent Behavior of Money Demand鈥 (American Economic Review).
