Tisha b'Av: after

Journal entry by Eve Ilsen — 27 minutes ago

I have returned from final services, breaking the fast together, putting the leftover hard-boiled egg yolks out back for the young raccoons. Mishka the cat is curled on the desk next to my arm, purring lightly.

I miss the keen sense of hope and redemption that followed Tisha B'Av whenever I observed this day with Zalman, z'l.
My own fault for not schlepping myself out to shul in the morning: I was exhausted and stayed home. I could not get myself to leave the house until tonight; instead I went inward.
The fasting was not hard; but I end this day feeling soggy.

May our prayers of this day have risen.
