Shabbos is over, and I listened to the news.
The image that keeps recurring is that a demon is on the loose, and is inhabiting and taking over for crucial short periods the bodies and personalities of those who have grievances, incipient causeless hatred, anger, mental illness...
Zalman, z'l, used to teach that the antidote to causeless hatred is causeless love.
(Right now, this is being exemplified by Mishka, who is curled up on the desk next to my right arm, despite the fact that I was away all day and well into the evening.)
We pray for the souls who were so unexpectedly and violently catapulted into the next world this shabbos; we pray for healing; we pray for justice. We pray for their families.
