First, up early to meet a gardener for the first time---only he didn't show up.
Then to a rehearsal of a song I will sing for a fundraising concert, with the pianist and the director. What I noticed was that merely having a third party there to sing to infuses my singing with more energy and nuance. Aha.
Then to a meeting at the conservative shul with folks from the Anti-Defamation League, for those of us who want to know how to be of help to folks who are being harassed. We received a whole lot of information on how to help protect our Muslim neighbors (or others) who are being harassed or threatened. A very interesting point, to start with: they suggest first interacting with the one being troubled, not the harasser.
Then a round of errands; then home, where a ton of email awaited me. (Help! I'm drowning in pleas for good causes!)
At last now it's done, tomorrow is closer, the cats are curled up asleep, and I am ready to do the same quite soon.
As I often do, I look back on this day and wonder what Zalman might have said about the situation, or what suggestion he would have had for the circumstance.
Falling asleep at the keyboard...good night.
