I don't remember the last time I needed shabbos this badly. I really need to enter that 26-hour Altered State. A slight change-of-angle in translating the words of the Kiddush (blessing over the wine) and it can read that G-d blessed the seventh day because on it (S)He "went on strike and re-enSouled".
I'm for it.
It was a frozen-snowy grey-white morning and the car nevertheless made it safely, if late, to morning minyan. I skidded in, the tenth person, enabling those who needed it to say Kaddish in honor of their dead.
I have shopped, already cooked for shabbos, and spent my requisite hours writing letters and calling politicians' offices to leave messages. But the major project of the day was working with a friend who is a skilled Organizer, clearing and sorting the piles from the area of my desk which I hope to dedicate to shaping a book. The clearing is an ongoing and never-ending project, I know; but with at least one cleared dedicated space, I may be able to re-enter other parts of my life.
I wish us all deep and renewing rest.
