Well, shabbos really does turn out to be time-out-of-time.
The Torah reading for this week is one of the most dramatic, and literarily striking.
I am well-rested: did not open the computer, listen to the news or discuss politics; enjoyed the company of a friend for shabbos lunch.
I made havdalah, then lit the Chanukah candles for the last time this year, and watched the flames; so I know this shabbos day has passed. The electric menorahs are in the windows, and will return to their place in the garage after sunset tomorrow.
The cats are fast asleep.
I may be ready to face the coming week.
