Yes, still here...

Yes, still here...

Still Here

September 20, 2016 by Eve Ilsen

There's that wonderful Sondheim song,
"Good times and bum times,
I've seen them all, and my dear:
I'm still here..."

We're still here.
As I checked my notes, Pete the Vet had told me 100ccs' subcutaneous saline every other day, which let me off the hook for today.  But tomorrow I will have no excuse, and will have to really learn how to do this.  Right now, Bracha the golden cat lies on her side, breathing lightly, on the salmon sofa to my right.  And Mazal is on her favorite spot, Zalman's recliner chair.

Somehow I feel this all as part of preparing for the High Holy Days.
On Thursday I lead our annual pre-Rosh haShanah mikveh to Indian Hot Springs; then on Saturday night, it is Selichot.  We have begun.

If I have hurt or angered any of you, please let me know, so I can try to make repair.
If you want to do this privately, my email address is <shesings@indra.com>  But since we have done so much all here together, you are invited to continue that way too.

I have used the High Holy Days not only to repair errors or hurts, but also to voice appreciations.
I want to thank you all who have accompanied me this whole time; it really HAS made a difference:
I have read your presence, and useful advice, and felt less alone.  Knowing you were reading has urged me to articulate my feelings and describe my experience.  And as we know, this makes it more  digestible, assimilable; it transforms into something real on the inside.

I wish us all deep sleep and the memory of the necessary seasonal dreams.
Good night.
