Journal entry by Eve Ilsen — 22 minutes ago
I am dicovering a lot about my own learning style as I navigate these visually new-to-me spaces:
I am slow to change! I have become accustomed to a certain visual presentation on CaringBridge, it had become my friend, a source of comfort and security, and then----YIKES! It looks all different.
Now, I know perfectly well that it is being read just like before, probably by the same people.
But I feel the need to apologize for the inconvenience of having to become accustomed to a different visual field---I assume that I am not the only one who is disconcerted. And just when I am transfering to The Blog, another Unknown!
I went to the park to try a walk around the lake with my newly-miserable foot. I made it gently around the small loop, and did not try to go further; it was more of a symbolic effort. Tomorrow I go to the chiropractor again to see if we can improve the situation.
Everything is about to change: Netanel will be packing up and heading East for three months. An acquaintance from Israel will be moving in for one month. Sheldon and I will be doing a reprise of the "Nitty Gritty Death Songs" for the opening of a Sage-ing weekend.
And I will be going to my friend Diana's in November to begin shaping the book that this ongoing communication may become. I feel excitement and trepidation in equal proportions.
I am hoping that I may include some of the glorious and kind and funny and caring comments that all of you have sent over these two+ years, that have nourished and sustained me. You see, my mother and I moved around an awful lot what I was young, and I didn't even begin to experience community until graduate school in the Bay Area. But THIS community has been extraordinary, and has kept me going when I may otherwise have collapsed.
I send my deep appreciation and blessings, and wishes for a good shabbos and---somehow---a spiritually fruitful Tisha B'av, especially in this bizarre, liminal time on this planet.
