Praying...
--->with focus and intensity for the sanity and wellbeing of our country, and for sane and benign results of this unprecedented election.
I pass on to you the observation that in our communities of the past, days of such import, upon which hangs the wellbeing of our country, were traditionally days of fasting and prayer as well as fulfilling our civic duty of voting.

Meanwhile, I have spent much of today and yesterday reading through entries on CaringBridge. My friend Diana's advice was to begin somewhere other than the beginning, and I am glad I listened to her: I discover, as I read, that even months after my beloved's death, my experience was still very raw and tender.
I am especially grateful to all who accompanied me, reading and sending words of comfort, of wisdom, of humor, of caring, from poetry to practical advice.
I am very glad that now as I begin rereading these entries, I am not alone.

Meanwhile, dear friends who are reading this, we are praying seriously for the healing and wellbeing of our country. And as we do this, there are people who are putting their lives on the line at Standing Rock to protect their land and the waters from the devastation of an oil pipeline. If you are in the position to help, to donate extreme winter wear or cash, or to pray---do not hesitate!
Our country and our planet are, at this moment, like the old hymn puts it, "standing in the need of prayer".
May we be blessed, individually and collectively, with the wisdom, the strength and the kindness to repair our broken country and our beleaguered planet.
G-d bless...
